hey madison! there's a new restaurant/bar on willy street that may be worth checking out. we stumbled upon vitali's vittles and vices, a greek spot located in the old corner store. the a.v. club seems to think this place is going to make it, because the food is so good. my friends kate, steph and i didn't get to the try to food. instead, we went in at the very last minute of their business hours late saturday night, and were rewarded with long conversations with vitali, the greek owner from mikonos, mike, his waiter, and a few of their friends. it was pretty weird, and super fun. even the greek pop music and dance videos blaring over the speakers and glowing on the big screen tv were both weird and fun.
i mean, what's not to like about this ditty "hafanana", which played seemingly over and over and over...
can you even imagine these guys getting a recording deal and a music video in the united states? i just love that this is major pop music in greece, and that these are very real looking people (albeit very greek looking people), with very real dance moves and very low production. it was definitely entracing at a weird dark bar at midnight last night.
