we had lots of beach and pool time. when the muck of lake mendota proved to be too gross, we retreated to the backyard kiddie pool, which is easily my favorite piece of plastic this summer.
ramona learned to be a helpful page turner,
the hot sun was out all day, every day, and the shaded hammock saw some action.
the chickens burrowed into the dirt to hide from the heat. i don't think i've ever seen sophia less white.
while visiting the farmer's market, we stepped into the capitol building, finally open to the public in an unlimited, no-metal-detectors-needed sort of way. man, we've missed that building. ramona discovered the joy of looking up in the rotunda.
david won a triathalon. yep. won it. more on that later.
patriotic duds were donned,
and our city council alder person bridget maniaci got the dunk-tank treatment at the local block party.
but the best part of all? we finally got to peek at our little boy! we can't wait to meet baby alabama. november can't get here fast enough.

Congratulations you guys! Also, you might want to be careful, Marta kneeling in the capitol rotunda may have caused an estimated 3 kajillion dollars in damage.
