the dane county fair--a hot, sticky festival of craft projects, animals, fried food, weird entertainment, and questionable quality carnival rides--came to town last weekend. as a girl from wisconsin's fabled sheboygan county, i have always loved a fair. so many kids at my school had animals in the fair that school would close on the friday of the fair weekend. david, on the other hand, has shown some genuine newbie county fair enthusiasm, but the guy had never even heard of teeny weeny donuts until sunday. but ramona! well, this kid loves the fair. the sheep! the chickens! the horses! the lights! the corndogs! the rides! there is so much potential for over-stimulation, and she soaked up every minute of it.
ramona helped polish off an ear of sweet corn,

while david managed a giant turkey leg all by himself.

oink, moo, cluck

thanks to the fair, we were able to re-create the scene at ramona's birth. we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate her big 18 month birthday ourselves! thanks, county fair.

ramona and sam confer about sheep. there was a lot of "baa baa" from both sheep and toddlers.

ramona was awe-struck by the horses in the arena.

and the flying wallendas, trapeze and high-wire-heros, entertained us with their antics. (that's grandpa wallenda doing the hand-stand on the stick. crazy.)

everyone's a winner when they stand in the winner's circle!
