this past weekend we took a short trip to grand haven to visit ramona's nana and papa, and belatedly celebrate the summer solstice. western michigan is a great place to go for those seeking to maximize their late day sun, as it is at the extreme edge of its time zone. being on lake michigan, thus having no barriers to the west, serves to extend the end of the day even longer. if you're looking for a late-setting solstice-sun, the shoreline of western michigan is the place to find it.
in addition to being a lot of fun, the weekend was very educational for ramona. she learned about shucking corn with her papa;
riding the tram with her nana;
and furniture assembly with her dad.
a good time was had by all.
