i have been so lucky to be one of those new moms who can make enough breast milk for her baby. it turns out, i made too much. way. too. much. i've been saving milk by the 4 ounce bag in our freezers in the basement, and it is now clear that ramona will never drink all the milk that i've saved for her. instead of throwing it in the garbage, i'm donating it.
2 grocery bags, filled with 100 bags of milk, 4 ounces each.
at the milk bank, it will be tested for toxins, pasteurized for bacteria, and readied for consumption by babies who need help growing and can't or won't use formula. i don't think this is a very high profile service, but i think it is an important one.

That's a wonderful thing to do. Will you continue to donate?
That's awesome! That's a whole lot of milk for some lucky babies out there. I'm so glad you're tuned in to such a great service out there.
Awesome! I donated with both of my babies. Once I sent it to the International Breast Milk Project and the other time I sent milk to a milk bank in North Carolina. I think I was able to donate about 3200 ounces between the 2 babies. I did pump one time a day (since I am home I rarely need it so pumped with intent to donate). We'll see if I can find time for once a day pumping with baby number 3.
Milk banks are awesome! One of my friends here in PA ships her extra milk to a milk bank in CA. A wonderful service. Good for you, Marta!
You're great. Wow! I remember how much work that was for Jamie just to provide for Fin. Way to go.
