cycropia!

we witnessed a spectacular and most unusual show this weekend. a few blocks from our house is orton park, and each year the orton park festival hosts madison's aerial dancers, cycropia. they dangle, dance, and hang from trees in elaborate costumes; they flip, climb, and wiggle in and out of ropes and swathes of fabric hanging from old oaks; they bring some serious drama to their story telling. in all, quite the event.

my reaction? surreal, irresistible, mesmerizing. intense, over-acted, bizarre. so many emotions at once. i liked the shiny clothes and the monkey suits.

that same evening, mr. and mrs. beverhammerstein encouraged us to join them at the crystal corner bar for merriment. we did. there was merriment.
