actually, we went outside around dusk. we put the camera on something stable (e.g. tripod, porch railing), and set the shutter speed to 10-15 seconds. then, during the time that the shutter was open, we frolicked around in front of the camera with a flashlight aimed at the camera.
there is only enough light at that time of night to pick up something really bright (flashlight), or something that is still for the full exposure time (background). in the last picture, marta stood in the same place for a little while, and left some ghost legs in the picture.
