spring chickens

they're here, and they are fluffy, cute, and chirpy.

this is the box that carried the baby birds to our door. so far, this is the most interesting piece of mail i have ever received.

the view inside the box. we're keeping four of these little ladies; the others will be off to their new homes shortly.

some spritely individuals.

ramona approves.

a glimpse into the chaos of chicken arrival.

more chick activity here and here.

I like those spotty ones. What breeds did you decide to go with?

We got one Easter Egger, one Dominique, one Gold Laced Wyandote, and one White Plymouth Rock. The others in the shipment are several more Easter Eggers, another Wyandote, a Buff Orpington, and a Barred Rock.

What kinds do you have?

Good luck with your chickens! I am envious.

We have two Barred Rocks, two Americanas (which I think are also called Easter Eggers, but they aren't a precise breed so they might look really different than yours), one Black Sex-Link, and one Golden Sex-Link (these are crosses, not actual breeds).
We wanted a Buff Orpington (it's the best chicken name!) but they didn't have any at the farm store. I really like those Wyandottes, though. Those will be some handsome chickens!
