bucky badger clock

one of my favorite uw-madison campus landmarks from my undergraduate career was the bucky badger clock on the wall of the university health counseling services building at the corner of park and university. this is a major intersection on campus, and the clock was located in a very convenient place. directions could be given by the bucky clock, as in "go left at the bucky clock."

but, as with all things on campus, construction necessitated the relocation of the clock. the building upon which it hung was demolished so the business school could be expanded. i never knew where the clock went, until last week.

the clock's new home is in a less prominent location further down park street; it is barely visible where it hangs on the new campus welcome center. this clock is no longer a landmark. this is disappointing.

the clock, in context, upon the wall of the welcome center, near the corner of park and regent streets.

my favorite clock.

placement of the clock was clearly an afterthought. it is totally out of place on that uninspired building. much of the new construction and design on uw's campus is disappointing and poorly thought out. this clock serves as a harbinger of more bad design decisions to come.
