mr. rogers goes to washington

here is one of my favorite clips of all time. it features mr. fred rogers testifying in front of congress to convince them not to diminish funding to pbs in 1969. it is moving.

i absolutely love this man. david does too.

just so you know, talking smack about rev. fred m. rogers is unacceptable in our home or on our blog. don't even try it.

In 1969, Western Michigan didn't have a PBS station. Meijer sponsored Sesame Street without commercials in the early 70's and Becky was able to watch that. How wonderful when Grand Valley started WGVU and we could watch The Electric Company and Mr. Rogers. What would Sundays have been without Masterpiece Theater? Hooray for Fred Rogers for getting the funding that brought those shows to Grand Rapids. Mr. Rogers helped to make David the sweet guy he is and I'm sure that it was the same for Marta. Thanks, Marta, for that reminder.
