today is the first saturday of spring. the ice on lake monona is barely hanging on. the cracks that zig-zag about the lake are very apparent on the thinning ice. this prominent fissure runs clear across the lake.

the sun reflects off a thin strip of water flowing between the monona terrace and the retreating ice.
