david didn't know about the no photography in the gallery rules, so he snapped this photo.
the glass staircase in the museum is encircled by a cascade of multi-colored ribbons right now. the intention is to tie the museum and the city together in some meaningful artistic way, but i just think it looks cool.

when did this museum open? Is is part of the "new" arts district that opened after we left? Looks like a great place to visit in December! I remember the Elvijehm (can't spell this) being my "happy place on cold days" during college, but I don't remember this modern art museum.
it's on state street, on the radical rye/che lounge/madison masala block, connected to the new performing arts space (the overture center, which is where the civic center was). i never liked that thick cut bread at the radical rye, and i like modern art, so i'm happy. let's plan a december visit!
