standoff

like i said in my previous post, the cats are still getting to know each other.

ben franklin is perched high above the door in his private room, and keeping a close eye on all who enter.

aretha is staked out under the dining table, and making sure ben doesn't come out of his room.

tensions are a bit high.

Good thing Ben has his own room.

When we got Bunny, Miss Priscilla perched on the counter and hissed at her for about a week. Now they play fight and chase all the time ... I'm sure it'll work itself out soon. In the mean time, makes for great blog posts!

He he...the post made me laugh out loud. I'm sure in time they'll be buddies. Congrats on the new member to your family.

I forsee many a funny ben franklin quote turned blog entry for you. Such as:

"Fish and guests stink after 3 days.... Both taste good"

I hope aretha takes a liking to him.

things are improving. we have ended the separation, and the hissing has mostly subsided. i wouldn't say we are all friends yet, but aretha is getting a little more used to sharing the house, as long as ben doesn't come to close. ben, on the other hand, is largely oblivious to the situation. although he gets a bit shaken up when she hisses at him or makes a fast move. the whole thing is somewhat humorous since ben's hind leg is the size of aretha's body, but she seems to be doing all the pushing around. like i said, things are improving. we are getting there.

if Ben Franklin could speak, he might say something like "Be civil to all; sociable to many; familiar with few; friend to one; enemy to none." to Aretha

I think he'd just say "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy". Well, that's my favorite anyway.

just this morning ben re-invented the lightning rod and the flexible urinary catheter. quite a guy.

aretha has been giving him some r-e-s-p-e-c-t today. not one hiss this evening. i think she's feeling more like a natural woman.
