our brat fest is bigger than your brat fest

every memorial day weekend, madison holds the greatest eating contest of all time. the question: how many bratwurst can we, as a community, eat in one weekend? the answer: 189,432 and counting. we bought 5 brats at brat fest this weekend to help the cause. i'm sure the guiness book of world records is watching very closely.

exhibit a: david attacks 2 bratwurst as he becomes part of history.

exhibit b: how do you eat the world's most brats, madison? by using the world's largest grill. period. brilliant!

that is a grill the size of a semi-trailer. take that, weiner mobile!
we jest, of course. the weiner mobile is a madison icon, and we respect it deeply. we're not sure how we feel about the mini-weiner mobile (to celebrate cocktail weinees?), but we'll let it go. i'm sure it doesn't claim to double as a mobile grilling unit, so it's a moot point in this posting. but here's a picture of it anyway.

Mmmmm. Bratfest. I've got no dilema being an omnivore when there are brats involved. I wish that wienermobile delivered.

Isn't it great to be back? How big were the grills for brats in CA? I bet they're not setting any records.

Julia, just so you know, the brats in California are filled with silicone, are 8X as expensive as they are in Wisconsin while being 4X smaller. They are also subject to seismic events, forest fires and governance by former body building actors. On the plus side, they are filled with Pinot Noir, almonds and chevre, and, as long as you buy them in Palo Alto, they are always the perfect temperature, 75 and sunny.

The Rhode Island Street brat fest is next weekend. We're hoping to eat 4.

Oh man I miss Madison in the early summer.

I agree, Chris (love your description of Cali brats, BTW). I was just telling my friend about the terrace - as we were quickly getting into the next store (air conditioning!) to escape the heat. ugh - it's only May! We'll be up to visit soon....
