david's injury (see crash boom bang post below) meant we weren't going to tahoe this weekend. no skiing, no snowshoeing, no sleeping over at kate's. once we recovered from our disappointment, we realized that we had time to bottle our pale ale.
we brewed up some pale ale in the kitchen 2 weeks ago, and by friday, it was ready for bottling. this evening, we undertook the first homebrew bottling of our young lives. sterilizing the bottles without chemicals is a pain, but we finally boiled the living...stuff...out of all the bottles we've been saving for a few months. steam burns were suffered. unhappiness reigned.
then the bottling began, and we were happy again.
the brown liquid in the "ale pail" actually looks and smells like beer. it turns out that neither one of us thought to taste it before capping all the bottles. perhaps we'll remember that step next time.
in ten days, we'll open one of the bottles of beached whale pale ale, and we'll let you know how it is. we've got our fingers crossed that it will be delicious. well, i have my fingers crossed; i'm not sure post-bike-trauma david's gimpy fingers are capable of crossing.

Looking forward to the day when all you have to say to your bartender is, "gimme a BWPA".
I noticed a strinking resemblance between you and Wild America's Marty Stouffer (please see: http://www.hossguild.org/forums/
customavatars/avatar435_5.gif). At first blush, you might think being compared to Marty would not be a bad thing. However, if you think a bit harder, you will remember that Marty was played by none other than Jonathan Taylor Thomas (f.k.a. JTT (please see:

And to top it all off, you and JTT both have the same favorite band (Boys II Men according to the JTT Archive (please see: http://jttarchive.net/main/default.asp)).
scrodnals, I think the resemblance to Marty Stouffer is spot on. It just so happens that I watched Wild America every day after school from ~6th to ~9th grade on our local PBS station, I am quite a fan of his.
Back to beards, I did a quick GIS, please dont tell me you save your trimmings as momentos like this guy:

...and for the latest JTT pics I would refer you all to my JTT fanblog.

Collecting beards is easy!
Seems like that guy always ends with a "hitler" stash. I'm glad you've never tried out that look,Dave. I prefer your Grizzly Adams - esque beards, personally. Rx
