last night was rainy and windy. 19,000 households in the bay area are without power, 400 in santa cruz. actually, 400 households in santa cruz without power seems like it might be about the median throughout the year. there seem to be some major issues with the power grid here. sometimes the entire university looses power for unexplained reasons.
anyway, it is very windy out this morning. this video was taken out our front door in an attempt to demonstrate the force of the wind (it doesn't really do it justice). it is raining pretty hard to, but the video doesn't pick that up very well.
i'll have more on the storm after my ride into work. i don't think the heavy stuff is going to start for a few more hours.

it is still very windy and rainy.
no locusts yet, but much like the saying "the calm before the storm", this might be "the storm before the locusts." we'll just have to wait and see.
it is still raining. there doesn't seem to be as much blowing anymore.
has the storm peaked? or is there more to come? stay tuned.
I think this state is full of wussies. It rained and was windy. Big deal. If the palm trees weren't so weak our streets would be clear. Though maybe we were spared the worst of it in SV.
How can you conduct science under these conditions?
I just tried to email you and it got bounced. What's the deal?
