yesterday kristen haglund was crowned miss america. she is the fifth miss america from the great lake state. that puts michigan in second place behind only california (and ohio) with 6. she is the first miss america from michigan since kaye lani rae rafko, which is just about my favorite name ever.
now if michigan can just get its economy on track everything will be right with the world.

first of all...it's strange how much the "new" miss america resembles the "old" one...creepy. And second....did you youtube miss michigan's "talent"....the most interesting "somewhere over the rainbow" ever.

darn, I assumed there would be a link, I actually saw bits and pieces of the show on TV today...her singing was pretty off key, poor girl! She is a hottie though.
Her singing was horrific. Out of tune, switched between chest voice and head voice without an easy transition. But she was personable -- and a midwesterner!
And, although more personality was infused into the swimsuit catwalk show, it bordered more on a burlesque show for some of the contestants. Do you think the ratings were any better with the "new" version?
